  The MMSD is committed to ensuring that every school is a thriving school that prepares every student graduate high school well-equipped for college, careers and their community. We serve over 27,000 students in 49 schools, including 32 elementary schools (grades K-5), 12 middle schools (grades 6-8), four comprehensive high schools and one alternative high school. We also have 4-year-old Kindergarten (4K), early childhood programs and alternative programs at the secondary level (grades 6-12). The District covers approximately 65 square miles including all or part of the cities of Madison and Fitchburg, the villages of Maple Bluff and Shorewood Hills, and the towns of Blooming Grove, Burke and Madison.

  The Marshall Public School District is proud to be home to more than 1200 incredible students. Marshall's relatively rural setting allows students to enjoy small class sizes and participate in many extra-curricular opportunities. Parents have the opportunity and are encouraged to become truly involved in their children's educational experience. Our 1/2-day pre-kindergarten program for four year olds was one of the first in Wisconsin to offer children a valuable head start. Full-day kindergarten curricuum builds on this early advantage.   The DOC is a large agency with multiple areas with one core mission: public safety. Our goal is the safe custody and supervision of offenders using the best, most effective correctional policies and procedures so citizens are protected, offenders succeed in the community, and new crime and the cost of corrections to taxpayers is reduced. Mission statement: The Department of Corrections will protect the public through the constructive management of offenders placed in its charge.

  The Department of Public Instruction is the state agency that advances public education and libraries in Wisconsin. It is headed by the state superintendent of public instruction, a nonpartisan, constitutional officer elected every four years. Elected in 2009, State Superintendent Tony Evers is working for a Wisconsin with Every Child a Graduate, College and Career Ready. The agency was created in 1848, the year Wisconsin attained statehood, when the state constitution provided for the establishment of local school districts and a free education for all children in the state.

• WISCONSIN HEIGHTS SCHOOL DISTRICT

  
  

  Wisconsin Heights is a school district of approximately 800 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. We are located 20 minutes west of Madison, Wisconsin's state capitol, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Our facilities consist of two elementary buildings - one each in Black Earth and Mazomanie with grades EC-2 attending Black Earth and grades 3-5 attending Mazomanie. We also have a combined middle school/high school situated in the countryside between these two villages on Highway 14. The district encompasses approximately 100 square miles. Our goal as a district is to help all children reach their potential every day, every year, in every class, in every activity. To achieve this goal, 135 dedicated and veteran staff members make a daily commitment to students, families, and our district. Of these 135, about 50% live in the district. As a result, they know our children not only as neighbors, but also through scout troops, youth sports, church groups, and other community activities. Whether teacher or secretary, cook or custodian, aide or assistant, these hometown connections help Wisconsin Heights educators meet the needs of our students.
