  The mission of the Big Walnut Local Schools is to inspire and guide each student to his or her maximum potential. In order to accomplish our mission, the Big Walnut Schools will strive to achieve our vision of: 鈥� Student-focused, professional, collaborative staff 鈥� Student-focused, challenging and current curriculum 鈥� Supportive, involved and informed community 鈥� Safe, respectful and welcoming environment. Located approximately 25 minutes northeast of downtown Columbus, Ohio, Big Walnut Local Schools provides instructional services for children who live in the greater Galena and Sunbury communities, including parts of Porter, Kingston, Trenton, Harlem, Genoa and Berkshire townships. Big Walnut is located in Delaware County 鈥� the fastest growing county in Ohio. With three elementary schools, a middle school, high school, and a partnership with the Delaware Area Career Center, the district serves over 3,000 students and employs more than 300 staff.

  The DACC Vision and Mission statements were created with the help of dedicated community members. As we continuously improve and progress, every step is held to the standards of these statements. DACC Vision: The Delaware Area Career Center is the resource for multi-generational career enrichment and educational opportunities. DACC Mission: The Delaware Area Career Center, in partnership with community, is an innovative model for developing lifelong learners, quality leaders, and critical thinkers for the dynamic and global environment.

  In this district we are truly committed to creating a learning culture of excellence that supports and encourages all students and staff in their academic and personal growth. We know that is a lofty goal, and we invite you to help us achieve it. We are proud of the many accomplishments of our students and staff and are dedicated to continuous improvement as we work to achieve even loftier goals. Our district is rated "Excellent with Distinction" on the Local Report Card, a rating earned by only 14% of Ohio school districts. Our Performance Index is at an all time high as well. Growing and learning are at the very heart of our work with students. We are also growing and learning with our staff. We are placing an increasing focus on our services for students who have been identified as gifted and talented as well as our work with special education students to ensure that all students maximize their potential.
