  The Department of Education鈥檚 Office of Institutional Education Programs provides educational services to over 6,000 institutionalized juveniles and adults. The State Department of Education and State Board of Education have assumed an important role in protecting the constitutional rights of institutionalized persons by providing programs and services that help change their lives.

  Kanawha County Schools (KCS) is the largest school system in West Virginia. The district serves over 28,000 students, representing the region鈥檚 diverse socioeconomic mix. KCS is comprised of 44 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, eight high schools, two career and technical education centers, one adult center, and two community education centers. The Kanawha County School System is dedicated to providing a world-class education that ensures success for every student in the 21st century. KCS serves students located across 913.38 square miles.
