The Anoka-Hennepin School District serves approximately 39,000 students and 248,000 residents living in 13 suburban communities spread out over 172 square miles north of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The history of schools in the Centennial area dates back to the mid 1800s. In 1958 the name "Centennial" was chosen for the school district. Rather than name the district after one of it's cities, since it serves several, a name was needed that would help unite the district. Then school board member Elsa Carlson suggested the name "Centennial" to honor the State of Minnesota's Centennial.

The Fridley School District is an International Baccalaureate World School District, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Program and Global Studies. Hayes and Stevenson Elementary Schools, Fridley Middle School and Fridley High School are all IB World Schools The Fridley School District serves the central area of the City of Fridley with two elementary schools (K-4), a middle school (5-8), a high school (9-12) and a community center, with an area learning center. Fridley is known for a small-town atmosphere in the midst of a metro area. Fridley experiences unusually strong enrollment by nonresidents who cite quality academics, good school climate, and personalized attention for each student, as their reasons for choosing the Fridley Schools. Hayes and Stevenson Elementary Schools offer a strong core curriculum in the basics of math, reading and writing. Vocal music, library, computer science and physical education are all taught by specialists in their field. Community Education offers education and enrichment programs for early childhood to senior citizen, plus PreK-8th grade childcare before and after school. The Fridley Community Center is the site of the High School's Area Learning Center and provides space for senior and evening/weekend youth programs and community groups. Fridley is continually selected for the "What Parents Want Most Award" for which the criteria is (1) competitive academic test scores and solid academic programs, (2) accreditation, (3) recognized for excellence by a national foundation or by the U. S. Department of Education, (4) competitive teacher salaries, (5) above average expenditures for instruction and library/media services, and (5) a reputation for small class sizes. The District is committed to providing students with the latest technology. A 1995 bond referendum upgraded and expanded technology and provided for major remodeling and building projects, improving the learning environment. In 2002, residents demonstrated their support for our schools by passing two referendum questions, one to provide additional funding for operations and establishing dedicated funds to keep technology current and to provide for maintenance projects. Fridley's strengths include strong academic programs and support services; highly-qualified, experienced, caring staff; and outstanding parent and community support. Our school district is also a committed partner in the community-wide "Values 1st" initiative, designed to promote the community values of responsibility, nonviolence, self-control, citizenship, integrity, respect and caring. Paladin Academy is designed for non-traditional students who are working towards obtaining their high school diploma. Our school population defies stereotyping. Our students come from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, and demonstrate a wide range of academic skills. The staff at Paladin Academy believes that diversity enriches the educational process and staff work with students to develop programming that will support all students with finding success. The cornerstone of Paladin鈥檚 instructional philosophy is experiential learning, both inside and outside of the school. Utilizing the greater community is a key practice and includes employment, service learning, filed trips, and extensive study/travel tours to domestic and foreign destinations. Other important factors include interdisciplinary curriculum, creating individualized Personal Learning Plans for each student based on their interests and goals, career focused learning, technology-infused activities, authentic assessments, and self-directed learning where students are accountable for results. We know that people learn better when they are motivated, and they are motivated when they are interested. Consequently, Paladin Academy students are given a large degree of autonomy over their learning and are expected to be productive probably the most important factor for their success. Paladin Academy staff members believe that: Relationships, Relevance, and Rigor are necessary for success with non-traditional students. Alternative programs have long known the value and practiced the concepts of relationships and relevance in successful learning practices. At Paladin this is accomplished by a small, non-traditional facility; where student-staff interactions are promoted and committed staff that make the time to connect with students. Paladin Academy serves the student population through three-hour long, intensive activity shifts where the student/staff ratio is 1:10, as well as through the advisor-advisee program where each student鈥檚 learning activities are guided through their Personalized Learning Plan (PLP)
Spring Lake Park School District 16 serves Spring Lake Park, Blaine, and Fridley with three K-3 elementary schools, a grades 4-5 intermediate school, a 6-8 middle school, a four-year high school, a Learning Alternatives area learning center, online distance learning academy, and Lighthouse Program for the highly able student. With 5,100 students, District 16 is personal is size, extra-large in opportunity. The same is true about the school community.
Independent School District 15 is nestled in the woods and fields of northern Anoka County and southern Isanti County.
