• CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATIONAL CENTERS

  
  

  C-TEC is Licking County鈥檚 community educational resource. Thousands of high school students and adults have gained the knowledge, training, leadership skills and confidence for successful futures at C -TEC. For 37 years, we have continually provided value for our students, employers and the economy of Licking and surrounding counties. We continue to be a valuable part of the educational and economic health of our community. Through our secondary and satellite programs, high school students can explore dozens of programs which help them meet their career goals and interests, as well as provide the pathways for post-secondary educational experiences. The multidimensional approach in career technical education is proven 鈥攑roviding experience-based learning, interactive and teambuilding skills, and real-world work opportunities. Many of our programs offer the opportunity to earn college credits鈥攁s many as 30鈥攁t little or no cost. Additionally, 27 of our secondary and satellite programs allow students to earn business and industry credentials. These certifications and licensures鈥� Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA), State Test for Nursing Assistants (STNA), Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and CompTIA A+, Microsoft certification and many, many more鈥攑ut students ahead of the competition in the work world and in college. Our Adult Education Center serves over 4,000 students each year. A few examples of programs include medical coding, pharmacy technician, machining, computer technology, office technology, welding, horticulture and many, many more. Recently, through agreements with area colleges, we have added college credit options to some of our adult programs. We partner with city economic development teams and businesses to ensure local companies and merchants have professionally trained employees. We are a vital part of the structure and development of Licking County and we take that seriously. We keep this county educated and working. Mission: To promote workforce development by offering leading-edge educational programs that provide all learners academic and technical skills needed for career opportunities and continuous learning. Vision: The Career and Technology Education Centers will be the area's premier workforce provider by developing skilled workers and community-minded citizens who engage in continuous learning.

  The Heath City Schools has built a tradition of providing an education for the students of Heath that prepare them to be successful, thriving citizens. Preparing students for success however is an ever-changing endeavor. This section of our website will briefly showcase the current curricular initiatives that are underway in our district. However, to truly understand the dynamic learning experience that happens in our buildings everyday, you would be well served to communicate regularly with your child, his or her teacher(s) and building principal, and make numerous visits to the school events that each building hosts.

  Licking Valley Local Schools is a rural district located approximately five miles east of Newark, Ohio. Our district consists of three school buildings. Our elementary complex is the newest of these buildings, opening in October 2007, and houses approximately 920 students in grades K through 5. Our middle school originally opened in 1957 and at that time housed our middle and high schools. The middle school currently houses approximately 540 students in grades 6 through 8. Our high school opened in September 2000, and houses approximately 600 students in grades 9 through 12. Our district covers a total of approximately 108 square miles. Our district employs a dedicated staff of approximately 240, committed to providing the very best in service to our students, parents, and community. We strive to create an environment where our students can learn utilizing the most up-to-date and proven methods available, and using the latest in technology. Proof of this lies in the recent completion of a building construction and renovation project, in conjunction with the Ohio School Facilities Commission. This project resulted in the construction of our new elementary complex, and upgrades to our middle and high school buildings. Classroom projection units, sound enhancements, and new desktop computers were acquired and installed as part of the project, allowing our students and staff to have access to the latest in educational and productivity tools.

  The Newark City Schools serves approximately 6,200 students in 11 buildings - seven elementary schools (Grades K-5), three middle schools (Grades 6-8) and one high school (Grades 9-12). Newark City Schools staff takes strides to help every student who walks through our doors 鈥� whether they鈥檙e here for a month, come in and out multiple times in a year or attend the district from K-12. If you look at our students鈥� achievement, it鈥檚 easy to see the results of the hard work: Our district achieved 23 of 26 indicators on last year鈥檚 report card 鈥� our highest total ever 鈥� and we were rated Effective, based on Ohio Department of Education data released just last week.

• NEWARK DIGITAL ACADEMY

  
  

  The Newark Digital Academy (NDA) offers state accredited, distance learning opportunities for all Ohio students. We partner with ACE Digital Academy to provide students instruction via computers in their homes. We partner with the CALVERT School to provide traditional home-school curriculum for grades K-8 and the American School to provide curriculum by correspondence to high school students. Newark Digital Academy is designed for students who have a desire for, and whose education can be optimized by, a program of instruction in an independent environment. Our goal is to take students at their current academic levels, build upon that foundation, and increase achievement at developmentally appropriate rates and levels. NDA also emphasizes consistent attendance, completion of assignments, and grade level promotion/graduation. All NDA students are required to take Ohio Achievement and Ohio Graduation Tests.
