About Holton

Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.

Board of Education Superintendent Academic Calendar Welcome to the Holton School District. We are a district of high performing students, dedicated staff, effective teachers and administrators. We are conveniently located 30 miles north of Topeka in the center of Jackson County. We are a community with small town values and rural character. Our elementary students are located in two attendance centers. Colorado School serves our pre-school to 2nd grade children. We currently have half-day kindergarten. Our class size in grades K-2 averages less than 18 students per classroom. Central School houses grades 3-5 and has a teacher to student ratio of less than 1 to 20. Holton Middle School is organized in grade level teams with a block schedule. Students are exposed to elective offerings, with a full experience of the core subject matter areas. The rigorous classroom expectations are balanced in a supportive environment with extra-curricular clubs and activities available to students. Holton High School has become a model for other schools to observe the one to one computer initiative that has been implemented. Along with cutting edge technology, students are challenged to work to their fullest potential. We are also proud of our vocational offerings. The school has excelled in athletics. We have a reputation as an athletic power, which is evidenced by our state championship competition appearances in the past several years. The Holton School District is dedicated to continuous school improvement with a caring and supportive environment. We invite you to contact the Board of Education office or any of the schools to answer questions.
