The Smithville R-II School District has earned "Distinction in Performance for High Achievement," the highest level of accreditation available to Missouri School districts. High Performing Students - Smithville students traditionally perform well above state and national averages on standardized achievement and college entrance exams. The Smithville R-II School District has four teachers who have been nationally recognized for successfully completing the prestigious and rigorous National Board Teacher Certification Program. Smithville High School is home to Darryl Johnson, the 2006-2007 Missouri Teacher of the Year. Smithville High School is a designated A+ School, which means qualifying graduates can receive free tuition to Missouri public community colleges and vocational/technical schools
