Akron Public Schools is located in Akron, Ohio, in the northeastern part of the state, less than 40 miles south of Cleveland and 20 miles north of Canton. The district includes 10 high schools, 9 middle schools and 31 elementary schools. It is the fifth largest district in Ohio with approximately 22,000 students enrolled. Akron Public Schools offers unique programs designed for every student! Parents love giving their child the best start in school with free all-day kindergarten. To help children grow and learn, a free lunch and free breakfast are served to all students. Parents also appreciate the many customized educational opportunities designed to fit each student's needs – whether it's special programming or special education, accelerated learning for the gifted, creative outlets for the talented, and even learning outside of the traditional classroom.
