Located in the heart of the Metolius River basin in Central Oregon, The Historic Black Butte School provides educational opportunities for students in grades Kindergarten through eight. The present day two room schoolhouse, dedicated in September 1950 is the educational home for 15-20 students, and a talented group of teachers and support persons. The school emphasizes individual growth and accountability set in an environment which can best be described as a "family". The school is part of the Black Butte School District 41, an Oregon public school district. As such, it offers a limited number of spots for students from other school districts through the inter-district transfer process. As a public school, students are not charged tuition.
