Serving approximately 600 children in preschool through grade 6, the Swanton School is the second largest PK – 6 elementary school in Vermont. We are located near the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain. Our community includes a historical railroad museum, a wildlife refuge, and a museum of Native American History. Our cultural diversity includes families of Abenaki, Hispanic, African-American, and Chinese origin. Approximately 37% of our student population qualify for free or reduced price hot lunches. Some 13% of our students have a disability requiring an individualized education program. We employ a staff of 128 individuals, including office staff, support staff, classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and custodians.
