The George Gervin Academy (GGA), a charter school operating since 1995, serves grades Pre-K to 4th and 9 to 12th grades. The school will be adding grades 5th and 6th during school year 2009-2010 and grades 7th and 8th in 2010-2011. The adopted curriculum for the district is the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Vision: George Gervin Academy provides innovative pathways that motivate today鈥檚 students to become tomorrow leaders. Mission: To provide innovatively designed comprehensive services that are holistic in nature as well as culturally sensitive, to impact the lives of troubled youth and their families, particularly those youth facing special concerns. Primary focus of the programs is to assess and meet the needs of the whole person, specifically recognizing the needs of at-risk youth in resolving critical issues surrounding family relationships, school achievement, social attitude, employment, teen pregnancy, substance abuse, drug trafficking, teen suicide, school/neighborhood and gang violence, self esteem and homelessness.
