About Cathedral 91ÖÆƬ for Children - Administration Office
Description provided by the district or community — not part of the NCES dataset.
Located in the Laramie Valley between Medicine Bow National Forests, Cathedral 91ÖÆƬ for Children has helped youth become successful with relationships, school, and daily life for over 100 years. In 1910, Cathedral 91ÖÆƬ began as an orphanage, providing shelter for children around the state of Wyoming. In the last century the agency has developed into a full service residential treatment home that serves troubled and traumatized youth, including those that are deaf or hard-of-hearing. The campus of Cathedral 91ÖÆƬ is located just north of Laramie, Wyoming. Cathedral 91ÖÆƬ consists of five residential cottages, The Hays Health Care Center, Mae Olson Education Center, an administration building, and a chapel. In addition to the main Campus, the 91ÖÆƬ has two in-town residential homes, and sponsors the Laramie Youth Crisis Center. Utilizing a relationship based approach to treatment; Cathedral 91ÖÆƬ for Children is devoted to breaking the cycle of violence, despair, and failure. Cathedral 91ÖÆƬ facilitates the formation of healthy relationships through positive reinforcement, constructive criticism, and natural consequences. The structured, family oriented environment provides the skills necessary for building healthy relationships. One of the primary goals for completing treatment is the ability to transfer these new skills to daily life, school, family, and friends outside of the 91ÖÆƬ.
