HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN SCHOOLS

Building new schools to house a growing enrollment has often been the focus of district and community efforts. Less public, but more important, is our work to expand and strengthen curriculum and instruction to better meet student needs and to better prepare them for post-secondary education and a quickly evolving workforce. Indicators such as ISTEP+, SAT, college attendance and a variety of rankings show our students are doing well. Our SAT median scores rose this year with more students testing. Fishers Elementary earned a National Blue Ribbon Award based on outstanding student performance. However, ensuring continued and even greater achievement is a responsibility we take seriously and approach with tremendous passion. We know we must do more to give our students an edge and look forward to doing so.
SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCH CORP

Located in north-central Indiana, South Bend Community School Corporation is St. Joseph County's oldest and largest school corporation, and the fourth largest in Indiana.聽 We have 34 school buildings and six support facilities in a geographical area covering 160 square miles.聽 We serve traditional k-12 students, special-needs students from preschool through age 22, and a large number of adult students.聽 As the adult education center for St. Joseph County, the school corporation annually grants more GEDs than any other testing site in the state.

Greater Clark County Schools is the largest of three school districts in Clark County and we're growing rapidly.聽 Located on the Ohio River in Southern Indiana, the Greater Clark district comprises 215 square miles.聽 Jeffersonville serves as the county seat and is located on the Ohio River directly north of Louisville, Kentucky.聽 Clarksville, the second largest community in the region, is also located on the Ohio River between Jeffersonville and New Albany.聽 Charlestown has a population of approximately 6,000 and is located ten miles east of Jeffersonville.聽 New Washington is a small rural town on the far north side of the county with a population under 1,000.

WARRICK COUNTY SCHOOL CORP

The Warrick County School Corporation was organized on January 1, 1962, formed under Chapter 202, Indiana Acts of 1959 as amended, and by the efforts of the parents and educators of the area. Ten school systems were merged into a single unit. A seven member board was elected at the May primary and became the school's governing body January 1, 1962. The county's school corporation consists of 17 schools (two high schools, one senior/junior high, three middle schools, and ten elementary schools and one alternative school). In the Fall of 2009, the corporation transitioned from the Junior High system to the Middle School system, with the addition of one middle school (Castle South Middle School) in the Castle District. Warrick County middle schools are now composed of grades six through eight. The Board of School Trustees is elected by non-partisan ballot. (Members must have resided in Warrick County for one year.) No more than two residents of the same civil township can serve on the Board at the same time. If a Board member moves out of Warrick County, his/her office becomes vacant and is filled as provided by law.

EAST ALLEN COUNTY SCHOOLS

The East Allen County Schools Corporation provides student services that impact positively on the educational, physical, and social development of its students. These services, pre-school through high school graduation, meet individual as well as group needs. All are encouraged to take advantage of services provided by our counselors, nurses, behavior specialists, and psychologists. Alternative placements, at-risk programs and programs provided with the collaborative efforts of social agencies and the courts are available to students. AVON COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORP

Avon Community School Corporation developed a plan, as required, which has been continually updated. The plan has several ongoing requirements: publish a notification on management plan availability and the status of asbestos activities; educate and train its employees about asbestos and how to deal with it; notify short-term or temporary workers on the locations of the asbestos containing building materials; post warning labels in routine maintenance areas where asbestos was previously identified or assumed; follow set plans and procedures designed to minimize the disturbance of asbestos containing building materials; and survey the condition of these materials every six months to assure that they remain in good condition.

NORTHWEST ALLEN COUNTY SCHOOLS

The Northwest Allen County School Corporation was formed in 1965 by virtue of the consolidation of Eel River-Perry Consolidated School and Lake Township School. The school corporation is comprised of three townships of Allen County: Eel River, Perry, and Lake. Eight schools now serve the school corporation. These schools and the year of construction are as follows:聽Carroll High School, 1967;聽Carroll Middle School, 1987;聽Arcola School, 1921;Huntertown School, 1922;聽Perry Hill School, 1972;聽Oak View School, 1992;聽Hickory Center School, 1998;聽Maple Creek Middle School, 2000;聽Cedar Canyon Elementary, 2005.聽 Eel River Elementary wil open in Fall, 2009. The schools are governed by a five-member non-partisan聽school board. Since the 1965 official organization of the district, there have only been a total of 27 board members serve a position. Members are elected at the time of the May primary in alternate years with one representative from each of the townships and two at-large representatives. The Board employs a superintendent of schools as its chief executive officer to administer its operational policies.

DUNELAND SCHOOL CORPORATION

Four Duneland Schools have earned the Four Star School rating for the 2010-11 school year according to the Indiana Department of Education.Those schools receiving the honor were Brummitt Elementary, Jackson Elementary, Liberty Intermediate and Chesterton Middle School. The IDOE announced that out of 1,780 public schools, 162 earned the distinction. Eleven of 238 non-public schools also received the honor. To be considered a Four Star School, a school鈥檚 combined English 10 and Algebra 1 End of Course Assessment, or its English/Language Arts and Math ISTEP+, passing percentages must fall into the top 25th percentile when compared to schools statewide. A school must also have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
HUNTINGTON CO COM SCH CORP

Huntington County Community School Corporation is comprised of seven K-5 elementary schools, one K-8 school, two middle schools, and one high school. HCCSC serves all of Huntington County including the communities of Andrews, Bippus, Huntington, Majenica, Markle, Mt. Etna, Roanoke, and Warren. The 5,986 children who attend Huntington County Community Schools are afforded countless opportunities for academic, social, and physical growth.
